Lesson of the Month: There is no Concept of Threads in Discourse

According to the co-founder of Discourse, they’re called topics.

Well, they used to be called threads before the forums moved to Discourse, so don’t mind me as you see me forget and keep calling 'em threads.

Potato potato. The potato play on word doesn’t work in text.

What does that have to do with this post?

I’m basically just saying threads and topics are the same

Not exactly. They are similar, but not the same.

Honestly, I don’t believe it matters. If they kind of the same thing; then it doesn’t really matter because people will know what you mean (are trying to say) either way.

A thread or topic means an ordered collection of messages if you’re on a forum.

Topics and categories are really just different terms for threads and forums.
