When you zoom out everything exposed to the sunlight becomes bright. But in nighttime mode everything exposed to light/gems/fire will be shown and blocks exposed to the sunlight will not shine.

If I’m not wrong, if the North Pole is having midnight time, the South Pole will be exactly noon. Correct me if I’m wrong because this was something I remember from 3 years ago.
