What have you always wanted to do in a welcome message?

#122

Just set the background, and some borders. Fiddle

<div class="box">
  Box
</div>

<style>
  .box {
    background: #ffaa00;
    border: 3px solid #1d00ff;
    border-radius: 6px;
    color: #ffffff;
  }
</style>

You’ll need a bit of JS for this one.

<script>
  addEventListener('load', function () {
    var bottomHtml = '<b>Custom text</b>';
    var centerElems = document.querySelectorAll('center');
    centerElems[centerElems.length - 1].innerHTML = bottomHtml;
  });
</script>

#123

Know how to make the welcome message have a background that will loop because I seem to have problems when trying to do it because it doesn’t loop.

I am no expert at code, I only use what is available.

#124

Is that a question? I don’t think that’s a question…

<style>
  body {
    background: url('https://forums-images.s3.amazonaws.com/original/3X/9/0/9051326d1a8d4fa4bf8b4b4ce59bcc719928a782.jpg') repeat;
  }
</style>

Or only vertically:

<style>
  body {
    background: url('https://forums-images.s3.amazonaws.com/original/3X/9/0/9051326d1a8d4fa4bf8b4b4ce59bcc719928a782.jpg') repeat-y;
  }
</style>

#125

Something about that code without needing the repeat fixed it, thanks :slight_smile:

#126

Would it be possible if on a certain date of the year the image would change and become permanent because I want to add that to the WM for the 5th anniversary for Griffen-Land.

#128

Hey @Bibliophile, would it be possible to put world rules that automatically update actually inside the welcome message?

Instead of outside because it would really come in handy.

#129

You mean in the slideshow?

Where would the rules come from? If from the forum thread, you could use something like the Welcome Message Variables script I wrote:

#130

How could I put the blockheads font inside the buttons in your menu template.

#131

Something like this, you can change body if you don’t want it to apply to everything.

<style>
  @font-face {
    font-family: "blockheads_font";
    src: url("http://theblockheads.net/fonts/BlockheadsFont-Regular.ttf");
  }

  body {
    font-family: blockheads_font;
  }
</style>

#132

To the thing you we’re talking about with the slideshow.

What i mean is when for example it is January 1st and one image appears and stays until the chosen date.

Then when the date changes to for example January 2nd the image switches to the second one, but the first one doesn’t come back ever.

#133

Fairly simple… something like this should do it.

<img id="swap_img" src="https://placeimg.com/640/480/animals">

<script>
  // Find 1546300800000 by getting the "timestamp in milliseconds"
  // from https://www.epochconverter.com/
  if (Date.now() > 1546300800000) {
    document.getElementById('swap_img').src = "https://placeimg.com/640/480/arch"
  }
</script>

#134

Thank you, but i am also curious of if it is possible with text instead of images.

I am surely to use this :slight_smile:

#135

Also trivial, just set the .textContent of an element instead of the .src

#136

I am not the best at code because I barely have no knowledge except for the things I have learned over time.

Please take this as a note for the future.

#138

Hey @Bibliophile, Would it be possible to make a hamburger menu sort of like this that can be extendable?

Because i have a few plans here and there. this will replace the current thing i have in my welcome message.

I also plan to install a forums thread link before the buttons.

This would come out by a button called menu at the bottom of the WM

or another option like this

If you need me to elaborate a little more i can

#139

So buttons would wrap around to a second (or third?) line? I’m not sure what you mean by extendable.

#140

oops, i mean the main thing extendable by a vh thing.

You can work on it, and i could figure out how to do the rest

#141

Would it be okay if i @ you @Bibliophile for whenever i would like something to be done?

Because i would like the thing to be done, although i am impatient.

#142

Here’s a little guide ::

I didn’t include few things but planning on part-2 (more advanced) so stay tuned!

:stuck_out_tongue:

#143

I like a welcome message with a nice background, cool font, And secure admin chat. This way normals cant just read the admin chat randomly. And the wm looks more professional.
