You dropped this limb

Redditors will recognize the Shruggie Bot. A shruggie is a text ASCII sort of 1 liner that looks like this:
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

However, because of Reddit’s formatting and Discourse’s formatting, the shruggie when posted raw will look like this:
¯_(ツ)_/¯

You’ll get the message “You dropped a limb!” from the Subreddit’s Shruggie Bot. To fix this, add two extra backslashes \
So the raw text will look like this:
¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
Aaandd if I remove the backticks, I’ll get my Shruggie!
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hope this helped. I dunno if any of you guys use the Shruggie but I do.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Oh well.

How do you get some of these symbols? I had to copy and paste it. Also, what is this anyway?

#3

Japanese characters.

The face is a Japanese symbol from the Japanese keyboard. You can get the others from the english keyboard (excluding ¯, which is copy/pasted). On iOS it’s useful to make a shortcut of shruggie into ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It’s a Jamoticon (Japanese emoticon)
